NatureScan Privacy Policy

NatureScan helps identify birds, plants, and insects from photos. This policy explains what information the app handles.
Information Handled
Photos you scan or import may be sent to the NatureScan backkend and then to LLM service providers for identification. If location permission is granted, scan location may be saved with the scan. If you sign in with Apple, Apple account information provided by Apple may be stored in the app for sign-in and sync features.
Local Storage and iCloud
Saved scans are stored on your device. If you sign in and iCloud sync is available, scan photos and metadata may sync to your private iCloud database.
Usage Logs
The backend may log operational usage data such as timestamp, request status, model, quota events, and a hashed user identifier. Logs are used to operate the service, enforce quotas, and diagnose errors. Prompts, photos, Apple identity tokens, and AI responses are not intentionally logged.
Third-Party Services
NatureScan uses Cloudflare, Google, OpenAI to relay and process AI requests
